Reintroduction

"The Sun" by Edvard Munch,1911

Though I’m always big on novelty in content, I can’t help but understand the power of reintroductions.

I’ve always believed that the whole point of content is to become easy to recall. I was reading this book called Improv, and it explained it so beautifully.

The author, a professional theater coach, explains the difference between mediocre and good storytellers. And the difference is the concept of reintroductions.

A good improviser would take advantage of the concepts/stories/frameworks he reintroduced earlier. All of my favorite personal brands do that as well.

Now this works at two levels: the microscopic one and the macroscopic one.

The microscopic one is explained well by the author here, so I won’t attempt it.

I’m more interested in the latter, where you keep reintroducing a number of core pillars of your brand over and over again.

I have a handful of such philosophies that I repeatedly hammer out in my content.

Like…

  • Research-oriented content

  • Not JUST relying on founder interviews

  • To increase the shelf life of content, ask, “Can this be added to my email sequence?”

My general rule of thumb is to reintroduce these core pillars 1-5 times in a 90-day period.

Of course, bearing in mind not to force it but to inject them naturally.

I’m going to end this with this beautiful poem from A Cup of Sun.

That's it for the day.
